The LEADERSHIP EXCEL® Coaching Model 

Victoria Vaughan, FCIM FInstLM, has developed the LEADERSHIP EXCEL® model.

Executive coaching focuses on helping you to achieve peak performance within your leadership role rather than the focus on business performance. However, most sessions will be set within the context of your organisation. Within your leadership role you may be faced with a number of challenges including:

  • Motivating employees who don’t want you as their leader
  • Communicating difficult changes effectively after budget cuts
  • Inspiring employees to keep them engaged
  • Dealing with a sudden crisis
  • Improving customer services
  • Increasing sales

These are just a few of the many challenges that Victoria has enabled leaders to deal with. Sometimes within coaching sessions, the session may reveal hidden assumptions or deeper issues which must be fixed first in order to achieve your original goal. If this is the case, Victoria will ask your permission to continue to overcome barriers in order to achieve your session goal.

Explore:

Victoria uses a solutions-focused approach, combined with deep questioning to explore limiting assumptions and explore all the options available. This is really powerful and helps clients to focus on the solution rather than the problem.

Examples of limiting assumptions are assuming you have explored all the options available. Victoria’s exploratory techniques open your mind to new ideas and Victoria often hears clients say: “Why didn’t I think of that before?”.

 

X-pose:

Once you and Victoria have explored all the possibilities, this may expose some competency gaps which stand in the way of you achieving your leadership goals. Victoria uses a blend of executive coaching, constructive feedback and strategic marketing to help you to discover potential blind spots and close the gaps in order that you can exceed within your leadership role. The most common blind spots exposed to-date have included elements of emotional intelligence and relationship building tools.

Creativity:

Creativity means more than drawing pictures. Victoria allows you reflection time to expand your thinking and take ideas to the next level. You will be able to create exciting strategies within executive coaching sessions because limiting assumptions which may have been holding you back have been exposed.

 

Empower:

Victoria enjoys helping clients to form effective relationships to achieve short, medium and long-term wins. It is essential for you to be confident so can empower employees to become leaders and brand ambassadors. Social media has made the world a smaller place and opened up two-way dialogue between organisations and their customers. Therefore, you need to motivate and inspire staff to buy into their brands and an authentic leadership approach is required. Victoria overcomes the ‘fear factor’ that you may feel.

 

Lead:

You are encouraged to practice everything you have learned within executive coaching sessions; Victoria will contact you via email in between sessions to assess goal progress. If you become stuck when practising leadership outside sessions, Victoria is available to talk through issues.  Victoria will encourage you to reflect upon you leadership experience and ask what you have learned and what others have noticed about you evolved leadership style.
